Vinyl Tap Class of 2020!
A Letter from the Editor....
These are strange times, no doubt about it. This was set to be one of Vinyl Tap’s biggest semesters yet. Photoshoots were done, articles were written, and we were on track to having magazines in our hands (and your hands!) before finals. Yet the best laid plans o’ mice and men, as they say, have a way of getting real screwed up. We left for spring break and never came back, printing was suddenly out of the question, and things were – in a general sense – utterly derailed.
But it’s in times like these that you find out what you’re really made of, and the Vinyl Tap staff, as I found out firsthand, is made up of some of the most talented and determined people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They rose to the occasion in ways I couldn’t even have imagined, and put together something truly amazing, regardless of the circumstances. Everyone put in plenty of hard work, from our social media team to our writers to our wonderful artists, but I would be remiss if I didn’t specifically thank our Design Editor, Isabel Haber. She has been a major part of this process all semester, but since we all ended up at home, she became the driving force behind this whole process. Without her, this website wouldn’t be nearly what it is, and we’re all thankful she’s on our team.
This was my one semester as Editor-In-Chief. When things started going wonky, I was pretty disappointed I wasn’t going to get to publish an issue proper. But as time went on, it became clear I had nothing to be sad about. This semester gave us the chance, as a staff, to show what we’re really made of, and I think the results speak for themselves. When the going gets tough the tough get going, and when the semester gets cancelled, Vinyl Tap goes online.
Stay safe out there folks!
